WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils are dynamic substances extracted from plant flowers, seeds, leaves, roots, fruit, and twigs. The essential oil in its botanical state possesses a complexity that is difficult to reproduce. Some oils contain substances that do not occur anywhere else in nature. Many of the oils have been traditionally used for fragrances, promoting well-being, as well as used in worship to promote a state of relaxation or spiritual awareness. Extracting these oils (a very small part of the entire plant) is a painstaking, meticulous process. The medieval Persian physician Avicenna developed the distillation techniques for extracting these delicate, readily evaporating oils from plants. Avicenna's discoveries have stood the test of time. For Nature's Alchemy oils, we are committed to using only steam distillation or cold pressing. Our high-quality Pure Essential Oils are scientifically tested for purity and contain no chemical solvents or added alcohol.
WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY?
Aromatherapy is the skilled use of plant oil extracts to bring about specific feelings and moods through fragrance. The plant oils work in harmony with the body and have a remarkable ability to affect a person's well-being, as well as creating an uplifting environment.
WHAT ARE SKIN CARE OILS & BASE PRODUCTS?
Skin care oils are plant or botanical based oils. They are considered carrier oils because they "carry" the oil onto the skin. Skin care oils are used to dilute essential oils to create aromatherapy skin treatments or massage oils. The Nature's Alchemy Carrier Oil line includes Sweet Almond Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Avocado Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Olive Oil, and Sesame Oil. Other base products would include any unscented products such as bath oil, shampoo, hand and body lotions, bath salts, massage lotions, and shower gels.
CARING FOR ESSENTIAL OILS
Most essential oils will last for years if properly stored. However, exposure to air (oxidation) and excess heat can cause a decline in the essential oil's aroma and effectiveness. Always store essential oils and blends in dark glass bottles with tight fitting caps. Store in a cool, dark place.
Suggested Uses
Aromatherapy
Fragrance can be a wonderful aid in reducing stress by creating a warm, relaxing atmosphere, and by reminding you of positive memories and experiences that bring joy, feelings of goodwill, and open-heartedness.
Body Care
Personalize your favorite unscented lotions, bath oils, creams, and hair care products by mixing in a touch of essential oil. Unwind with a spa-like scented bath by adding a few drops of essential oil to your bath water. Give your hair and scalp a refreshing conditioning treatment by placing a few drops of rosemary or lavender oil directly on your hairbrush.
Crafts
Create a festive mood around the holidays or a sweetly scented mood for spring by "decorating" your home with the fragrance of essential oils. Potpourri, incense, candles, and herbal fragrance pillows make unique, personalized gifts. Include a small bottle of essential oil with your potpourri gift, so the recipient can refresh the mixture throughout the year.
Environmental Fragrance
Bring your favorite essential oils into your home and cover-up offensive or musty odors in any room by using diffusers. This same technique can bring a refreshing reminder of home into a hotel room.
Facial Steam
Steaming hot water with a few drops of a soothing oil, like chamomile, can be a wonderfully relaxing way to open the pores before a facial treatment. After adding the oil to a steaming bowl of water, drape a towel over your head and allow the steam to open pores for several minutes. Take care not to make the water too hot, and keep your face at least eight inches from the steaming water.
Massage
Enhance the naturally sensuous experience of a massage by adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil to an unscented massage oil. With the appropriate essential oil, your massage can be relaxing, muscle-soothing, or energizing.
Personal Fragrance
Make your own custom-blended perfume oil by blending a few drops each of your favorite essential oils with a high-quality skin care oil. Perfume oils are very concentrated and long-lasting; for a less concentrated, lighter scent, make your own perfume by blending essential oils with a pure vegetable-source alcohol.
ESSENTIAL OIL SAFETY & WARNINGS
We hope you enjoy the benefits of our pure essential oils. Since essential oils are highly concentrated, a little goes a long way. They should always be used with care, in small quantities, and should never be used full strength on the skin. Dilute and perform a patch test prior to use. Educate yourself about the properties and uses of essential oils. See warning statements on individual essential oil labels. Consult a knowledgeable reference for indications and contraindications before use. If you are uncertain, it is always advisable to use a smaller amount or seek advice from a knowledgeable professional. Consult your healthcare practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant, nursing, suffering from any medical conditions, or on medications. In the interest of safety, please do not take essential oils internally or use essential oils on children under six years of age without the advice of a healthcare professional. Please keep all essential oils out of the reach of children.

About Nature's Alchemy
Since time began, scents have been used to enhance, soothe or excite the spirits. What is more evocative than a drift of rose petals on the breeze or the bracing freshness of piney woods? Chamomile can conjure up tea, home and comfort while basil can evoke greenness, freshness and spring. How can you experience these and a host of other scents any time of the year, simply by opening a bottle? With Nature's Alchemy Essential Oils, a complete line of pure, naturally distilled botanical essential oils.
For centuries, botanical essential oils -- highly concentrated, aromatic oils found in herbs, flowers, and trees -- have been used to anoint the body, relax your senses as you drift off to sleep, or turn a simple bath into a rejuvenating or relaxing experience. These 100% Natural Essential oils can be dissolved in alcohol or mixed with other pure vegetable oils to become a unique part of your personal care regimen. From religious ceremonies to beauty rituals, essential oils were an integral part of everyday life for our ancestors.
Extracting these oils (a very small part of the entire plant) is a painstaking meticulous process. For Nature's Alchemy, we are committed to using only steam-distillation or cold-pressing. Our high-quality oils are scientifically tested for purity and contain no chemical solvents, added alcohol or other extenders (with the exception of Sandalwood Essence). Our experts at Nature's Alchemy delight in seeking out the rarest desert plants or most exotic tropical foliage to create a rich variety of essential oils. So indulge in a perfumed lotion, try a scented oil massage, or rejuvenate with a refreshing bath. Your mind, body and spirit will thank you.
